GEBHARDT designs multi-functional special load carrier for MTU crank case
MTU Friedrichshafen, the core business of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, is one of the leading global manufacturers of large diesel engines and drive systems for ships, energy production, heavy-duty land and rail vehicles and military vehicles as well as for the oil and gas industries. The company has its headquarters in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance and is represented by over 30 subsidiaries and more than 1,200 development, production and service centres and dealerships in 130 countries.
GEBHARDT Logistic Solutions has been working with MTU for many years and has designed a special load carrier which optimises the transportation of crank cases from the raw material supplier to production.
The result of the development is a multi-functional special load carrier which can accept specific individual components in accordance with a defined position code with only a few adjustments. The sliding carriages on the steel load carrier can be quickly re-positioned using a handle.
The special load carrier is made from robust mild steel and is hot-dip galvanised which guarantees a long service life. The loaded goods can also be secured in appropriate devices with straps. The certified load carrier therefore considerably reduces the risk of accidents and the associated costs.
Martin Heilig, Material Flow and Logistics Planning, MTU: “In GEBHARDT, we have a reliable partner who develops solutions which meet our needs exactly. This solution meets all the relevant industrial safety requirements and also provides an easy-to-use handling solution in both our intralogisitics environment at MTU and at the suppliers.”
